(Patria) - Deputy Speakers of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly Smiljana Viteškić and Vibor Handžić laid flowers today at the site of the massacre near Hilmi ef. Šarić Elementary School in Tarčin.
26 years ago, a grenade was fired from aggressor positions at this location, killing seven and wounding six of our fellow citizens. The killed were: Adnan Aleta, Almasa Aleta, Omer Horman, Sanela Horman, Mustafa Nevesinjac, Mujo Svraka, and Tanja Šiniković.
On this occasion, it was stated that the massacres committed against innocent people and children during the siege of Sarajevo must never be forgotten, as they were killed during the four-year siege of our city. However, regardless of the past, as emphasized, the future must be built on the equality of all peoples and citizens, and persist in the ideas of coexistence, mutual respect, and tolerance on which Bosnia and Herzegovina can and must survive.
Family members of the killed and fellow citizens, as well as representatives of the Union of Civilian War Victims of Sarajevo Canton, the Association of Parents of Murdered Children of Besieged Sarajevo 92-95, and the Municipality of Hadžići, attended the commemoration of the sad anniversary in Tarčin.
