All institutions in cantons must be verified for laboratory isolation activities

(Patria) - The Minister of Health of Sarajevo Canton, as well as all other cantonal health ministers, have sent requests to all public and private healthcare institutions to submit to the Ministry of Health of the Federation of BiH the documentation required for verification of microbiological activities. This order to cantonal ministers came from the Federation.

Healthcare institutions from all cantons will have to submit the aforementioned documentation to the Ministry of Health in order to be verified for laboratory isolation and identification of infectious disease agents.

This procedure is necessary to bring the work of healthcare institutions, regardless of ownership, into legal frameworks, although given the current situation it is evident that most healthcare institutions know what they are doing even without verification. Considering the situation in Europe and the region, the situation in BiH can be described as controlled.

This was confirmed in an earlier statement to Patria by the Minister of Health of Sarajevo Canton, Rusmir Mesihović, who described the current epidemiological situation as satisfactory.

“That is what we are aiming for, to demonstrate the success of the preventive measures we took before some more serious cases entered Sarajevo Canton. We are in daily contact with the Crisis Staff, which holds sessions and meets every day. We see that no system in the entire world is ideal for this situation, as we see in the USA and other healthcare systems, so with us too, changes are occurring and will occur on the fly, both in work organization and in some approaches to treatment and the fight against the coronavirus,” Mesihović told us.

Regarding the situation in Sarajevo Canton, Aida Pilav, President of the Crisis Staff of Sarajevo Canton, spoke today at a regular press conference.

“So far, there have been 28 confirmed cases of coronavirus, and yesterday 49 people were tested,” she said.
