Court Bans Teachers' Strike in HNK, Students Back in Classrooms from Monday

(Patria) - The HNK Government informed the public today that the Municipal Court in Mostar has issued a temporary injunction declaring the general strike of education workers in the HNK area unlawful.

This also means that classes in all primary and secondary schools in the HNK area will begin on Monday, September 9, the HNK Government announced today.

HNK Prime Minister Marija Buhač and the relevant Minister of Education Adnan Velagić will hold a press conference on this occasion tomorrow morning at the Government building, starting at 9:45 AM.

Let us recall that education workers' unions in HNK went on a general strike yesterday and held a protest march.

They are demanding from the Government a one-time financial aid, a 30 percent salary increase, professional advancement (mentor eight percent, advisor 15 percent), the announcement of permanent employment competitions, payment of lawsuits, and monthly adjustment of the meal allowance to the average salary in the Federation of BiH.

The HNK Government offered them a one-time financial aid of 1,000 KM, a five percent salary increase for education employees, an additional five percent for mentors, and eight percent for advisors in schools.

Also offered was the automatic reinstatement of promoted mentors and advisors to their rights, and the calculation of increased salaries starting immediately from October 1 of this year instead of the originally proposed start of calculation from the first day of 2025.

Representatives of education unions in HNK rejected this offer from the Government and went on a general strike.
