Court of BiH clarifies: Dodik's verdict produces consequences, but his status in SNSD remains unchanged

(Patria) - Due to increased public interest, and with the aim of timely and objective information, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina clarified the decision to reject the request of Nebojša Vukanović.

"The Panel of the Appellate Division of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on October 10, 2025, at a closed session and within the legal deadline, rendered and dispatched a decision rejecting as unfounded the appeal of the political entity 'For Justice and Order – List of Nebojša Vukanović' with its seat in Trebinje.

At the same time, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina notes that this decision on the electoral appeal represents a response to the current factual situation according to which the convicted Milorad Dodik holds the status of president of the political party he represents, as long as he is registered in the court registry as the person authorized to represent the said political entity.

However, as already indicated several times in earlier announcements of the Court of BiH, a security measure is in effect against the convicted Milorad Dodik based on the final verdict, and consequently certain legal consequences of the conviction have also occurred, about which the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina timely informed the Central Election Commission of BiH on August 1, 2025, by submitting the first-instance verdict of the Court of BiH, number: S1 2 K 046070 23 K of February 26, 2025, and the second-instance verdict of the Appellate Panel of the Court of BiH, number: S1 2 K 046070 23 Kž of June 12, 2025, for enforcement and recording to the competent authority for regulation and supervision of the electoral process in Bosnia and Herzegovina, both regarding the imposed security measure of prohibition from performing the duty of President of Republika Srpska, and regarding the legal consequences of the conviction that occur by force of law upon the finality of the decision, given the fact that the convicted Milorad Dodik, in addition to the function of President of Republika Srpska, is also the president of the political entity - the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD)", it was stated from the Court of BiH.
