Students cleaned the Memorial Complex in Potočari

SREBRENICA, (Patria) – Participants of the International Youth Work Camp cleaned the Memorial Complex in Potočari today. After almost all guests left the complex premises, the diligent volunteers toured every part of it and picked up all the trash they found.

This activity has been a practice for 14 years and is part of the summer camp, which is organized every year from July 10th to 24th.

“Thanks to the diligent and persistent volunteers, the area around the memorial room, where large amounts of trash are left every year after the funeral, has been cleaned.
This activity has been ongoing for the 14th year and also represents the first activity of the camp, which this year gathered a large number of volunteers from both BiH and other countries around the world. Since some of the participants are visiting Srebrenica and the Memorial Center for the first time, they had the opportunity to learn more about the genocide and everything that happened to the people of Srebrenica,” said Mirela Ahmetbegović, camp coordinator.

Young people will also participate in the beginning of the construction of the Center for the Elderly in Potočari, be involved in distributing meals to people in need through our project “One Meal a Day”, provide home assistance to beneficiaries of the project “Love for the Mothers of Srebrenica”, work on the Pale farm, etc. There are also educational activities such as visits to the Memorial Center – History Lessons, creative and art workshops, international evening, entertainment activities such as karaoke, movie night, traditional games, sports tournaments, excursions, etc.

The camp in Srebrenica is a unique opportunity for young people from all over the world to meet and connect, and to jointly help the local population of Srebrenica.
