76ers center Joel Embiid had a terrific game, scoring 51 points, along with 12 rebounds and 3 assists.
Tyrese Maxey also had a noteworthy performance for the Sixers with 35 points.
For the losing Timberwolves, Anthony Edwards was the most effective with 27 points, and Karl-Anthony Towns scored 23 points and added 13 rebounds.
The Sixers have a record of 19 wins and 8 losses, while the Timberwolves (along with the Boston Celtics) are first in the standings with a record of 20-6.
