SARAJEVO, (Patria) – The records of the Employment Service of the Sarajevo Canton show 58,312 persons, and since March 18, increased registrations have begun, Igor Kamočaji from the Employment Service of the Sarajevo Canton told the Patria News Agency.
On March 1, there were 58,029 unemployed persons on the records.
„Given that the deadlines for registration have been extended, the true situation will only be known after April 18. For now, it is possible to register via email, and the original documentation will need to be submitted later,“ says Kamočaji.
In the seven days from March 18 to 24, 283 persons registered on the records. In just one day, 40 persons from 20 different employers registered. In the explanations for contract terminations, only a few stated that they were forced to lay off workers due to the coronavirus situation. The largest number of workers lost their jobs in the hospitality and service sector.
Asked what rights persons who register on the records of the Employment Service of the Sarajevo Canton are entitled to, Kamočaji states that these are monetary compensation for those who have at least eight months of work experience and health insurance.
„Compensation is paid in the amount of 377 KM from three to 24 months depending on years of work experience, and when it comes to health insurance, the Service pays for 60,000 citizens because some of those on the Service's records have one family member who is registered as an unemployed insured person,“ said Kamočaji.
