(Patria) – Italian authorities reported that 812 people died in the last 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 11,500.
A slight decrease in new cases was recorded, with a 4% increase, which is half of the rate recorded four days ago (8.3%) and four times less than two weeks ago.
The current infection rate in Lombardy, Italy's most affected region, is also slightly declining, standing at 25,006 compared to 25,392 on Sunday.
1,590 people recovered in Italy in one day, which is the highest average so far.
Deputy Minister of Health Pierpaolo Sileri stated on Monday that one should hope for 'the peak in 7 to 10 days, and after that, logically, a decline in the infection rate'.
Despite the first favorable development of the situation, authorities are appealing for strict adherence to measures.
Let us recall that Spain surpassed China in the number of cases on Monday and is immediately behind Italy in terms of severity.
France lost 418 of its citizens on Monday alone, and more than 3,000 people have died so far. More than 44,000 French citizens are infected. At least 21,000 people are hospitalized in that country, including 64 people under 30 years of age who are currently in intensive care.
