Bosnia and Herzegovina table tennis team wins silver at Balkan Championship

The Bosnia and Herzegovina table tennis team is currently at the Balkan Championship for seniors and U-21 women in the Macedonian city of Stip, where in the team competition our women's team was better than the teams of Turkey and Kosovo, and in the semifinals defeated the Serbian team with a score of 3-2.

In the final, our women's team was defeated by the Romanian team and thus took a high second place, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

The women's team is led by our best table tennis player and captain of the BiH team, Emina Hadžiahmetović, while the other two members of our team are the experienced Ivona Baškarad and the young BiH representative Snežana Marković.

- I must emphasize how big a result this is for our team at the Balkan Championship because we really overcame extremely strong teams, especially in the semifinal battle against Serbia. This is a very important and big victory for us because in the last few years we have not managed to beat this team, which competed here in its strongest lineup. I am very happy and proud of my team and the achieved result - said coach Amela Hadžiahmetović-Mujezinović, who led the BiH team.

In the men's competition, our team consists of the best younger seniors Mirnes Čustović, Edin Gutić and Kenan Zahirović.

The BiH men's team finished in fifth place in the team part of the Balkan Championship. In a very difficult match, they were defeated by the Bulgarian team for a place in the semifinals.

- I am very sorry that we did not manage to reach a medal, but given that we competed with a very young and inexperienced team, I am very satisfied with the achieved result, and I sincerely hope that with this team lineup we will certainly be among the top 3 teams next year - said coach Dino Čustović.

After the team competition ended, the Balkan Championship continues in the individual competition and doubles play.
