(Patria) - Following their qualification for the World Cup, numerous congratulations are pouring in for the Bosnia and Herzegovina football team, coach Sergej Barbarez, and all the players who were better than Italy on penalties tonight.
Officials from the Assembly and Government of Sarajevo Canton extend their sincere congratulations to the Bosnia and Herzegovina National Football Team on their outstanding success and qualification for the World Football Championship.
"This historic result is the fruit of dedicated work, unity, discipline, and immense love for the homeland. Your fighting spirit and sportsmanship have made all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina proud, especially the citizens of Sarajevo Canton, who stood by you throughout every moment of this great journey.
Qualification for the World Cup represents an inspiration for young generations and confirmation that with effort, faith, and unity, even the greatest goals can be achieved.
We wish you much success at the World Football Championship, with the conviction that you will represent Bosnia and Herzegovina with dignity on the world sports stage.
Sincere congratulations and good luck," the message reads.
The congratulations were also extended by the president of HDZ BiH, Dragan Čović.
"In tonight's match against Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina achieved historic qualification for the World Cup! Sincere congratulations to the players and the professional staff for an excellent game and a new success for football in Bosnia and Herzegovina," Čović stated in a post on X.
The central celebration is scheduled in Sarajevo, and thousands of people are already in the streets, with the area around the Eternal Flame congested.
The Head of the EU Delegation, Luigi Soreca, who is Italian, also extended his congratulations.
"Huge congratulations to BiH. The better team won! Of course, I am sorry that Italy is missing another World Cup. But seeing the happiness of friends and colleagues from BiH and what qualification means to them makes up for it! I will proudly cheer for BiH this summer," Soreca stated.

The Turkish Embassy in BiH also extended its congratulations, publishing a video of the congested streets of Sarajevo.
