Stari Grad will be the first to have an electric vehicle charger free of charge

SARAJevo, (Patria) - Thanks to the excellent cooperation between the Municipality of Stari Grad and the company Porsche BH d.o.o. Sarajevo, a state-of-the-art electric vehicle charger will be installed, and citizens will use it
free of charge.

This power station, a so-called charging station, will be located in the public underground garage in Avdage Šahinagića Street, opposite the City Hall, the construction of which is underway, the Municipality of Stari Grad announced.

The agreement, which defines the installation and maintenance of this unique station, was signed today by the Mayor of the Municipality of Stari Grad, Ibrahim Hadžbajrić, the director of Porsche BH d.o.o. Sarajevo, Senad Olovčić, and Elvis Ališić, sales manager for Bosnia and Herzegovina, on behalf of Hager d.o.o.

After the construction and commissioning of the public underground garage, Porsche BH will donate the electric vehicle charger, while Hager will be responsible for the installation work of the device.

What is particularly emphasized is that the use of this electric vehicle charger will be completely free.

This is the first such case in the Canton of Sarajevo, where there are currently about 15 electric chargers for charging electric cars, but none are completely public.

The popularization of environmentally friendly means of transport is one of the key factors of environmental protection policy. In developed countries, efforts are made to reduce the use of cars powered by internal combustion engines, while drivers are encouraged to purchase electric cars through various incentives.

Unfortunately, Bosnia and Herzegovina lags behind in this segment, not only due to the lack of such incentives but also the lack of adequate infrastructure, i.e., charging stations for electric vehicles. Now, thanks to Porsche BH, this infrastructure will soon be available in Stari Grad, the statement said.
