The Arena Pantanal stadium, in Cuiaba, Brazil, where the national football teams of BiH and Nigeria will face each other on June 21st at the World Football Championship, is still not finished.
The mayor of Cuiaba, Mato Grosso, said on Friday that the stadium will not be in use before May, only a month before the biggest football showpiece in the world, which begins on June 12, 2014. Although FIFA set December 21, 2013, as the deadline for the completion of all stadiums, six out of twelve are still under construction.
The contractors have promised that the Pantanal stadium will be ready by FIFA's final deadline of May 6, i.e., five weeks before the start of FIFA's stadium inspection in Sao Paulo. As planned, on April 2, the stadium will be tested without seats installed in the stands.
The total capacity is 42,968, and besides the Nigeria - BiH match, three more matches will be played at this stadium: Chile – Australia, Russia - South Korea, and Japan – Colombia.
