(Patria) - The long-announced heavy rainfall today hit primarily the northwestern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and local rivers have already overflowed in Prijedor and Bosanski Novi.
Several houses have been flooded in Prijedor due to heavy rainfall, which caused the water level of the Puharska river, which flows into the Sana, to rise and overflow.
The situation in Sarajevo is calm for now.
“In the area of the Ilidža municipality, all watercourses are within their banks, the situation is not alarming, and there is no danger of floods for now. Civil protection teams are on the ground. The public will be informed in a timely manner about any changes on the ground,” stated the Municipality of Ilidža.
Given the forecasts from the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute, as well as the European Flood Awareness System (EFAS) and other available platforms, which predict rainfall throughout this week, the Cantonal Civil Protection Administration of Sarajevo Canton warns of the danger of floods and recommends taking preventive measures.
Also, no relevant information regarding natural disasters or other events that threaten human lives and health, as well as material and cultural assets, has been received from the municipal operational centers of civil protection in the Sarajevo Canton area, nor from other information providers.
