A Germanwings plane flying from Cologne to Venice was diverted to Stuttgart due to suspected oil loss, Reuters reports, according to the Patria News Agency.
The Airbus A319 departed from Cologne at 9:55 AM local time, carrying 123 passengers and five crew members. Germanwings stated in a press release that the pilots had to shut down one engine and then proceeded towards Stuttgart.
"This is a standard safety procedure. It was not an emergency landing," the statement read. They added that the plane was inspected by technicians.
Germanwings has been under public scrutiny since the crash of a plane in the French Alps. The Airbus A320 crashed on March 24th, and co-pilot Andreas Lubitz was blamed for the accident. He intentionally crashed the plane into the mountain, killing himself and 149 other people.
