(Patria) - That politics is no longer about following and implementing certain political ideas and beliefs, but mere interest, is increasingly shown by politicians at the local level of government. When this is done by individuals, independent councilors, and adventurers who try their hand at political existence without an ideological and political worldview, it does not cause surprise, but when serious political parties or parties begin to perform ideological exhibitions from which only the bare interest of an individual can emerge, then we see that any positioning on the left, right, or center has lost its meaning as a political determinant.
If anyone, besides the current global events, secessionist excursions, and corrupt actions of politicians at the entity level, manages to follow local politics, which mostly directly concerns citizens, then they can notice that the "idea" at the local level means absolutely nothing. Certain mayors become collectors of hands for "their cause," and these are, in order, primarily the budget, regulatory plans, rent, employment of those close to them and party friends, tenders, public procurement, self-promotion, etc.
The latest example of the aforementioned trading in the Sarajevo municipality of Centar is obvious. In the municipality of Centar, the Troika holds power, which also has a majority in the Municipal Council, but disagreements regularly arise between the partners (NiP on one side and SDP, NS on the other). In such situations, with spare hands, the SDA steps in as a "natural partner" to parties of the left worldview, all for the purpose of creating the aforementioned interest-based passability for Mayor Mandić. That is why he often invites his friend, the president of the SDA Municipal Board Centar, Ahmed Čorbo. In return, Čorbo gets some commissions important to them in the Municipal Council, and the latest purchase is the position of the fourth deputy speaker, which the Troika will offer to SDA councilor Hamdija Hasanović.
Regardless of the fact that the Troika in the Centar Municipal Council has a total of 18 hands, due to mutual distrust, Mandić is much closer to "comrade" Čorbo than to "little" Ademović (NiP), who has been heavily agitating for his recall. While the new coalition, now the Quartet, exercises power and secretly distributes positions, Mandić issues building permits for buildings with 7 floors in neighborhoods and quarters like Bjelave, bypassing the urban plans adopted by the Institute for Planning of the Sarajevo Canton. He no longer hides this, often stating from the podium that the budget must be filled regardless of the cost and whether legal procedures are violated, referring to the collection of funds from rent. The Prosecutor's Office of the Sarajevo Canton has received 8 criminal reports against him, and it remains to be seen whether Mayor Srđan Mandić will end up like his party colleague, Minister Bojan Bošnjak, or whether, with the help of friends, he will legalize everything through the majority in the Centar Municipal Council.
If there were not four councilors from SBiH and two councilors from DF sitting in the council, we would think that there are no opponents of the government (opposition) in the Municipal Council, but that they are all one big interest family, which has placed the ideas of their parties under the council benches, while on the table are only interest scripts and brochures for the purpose of realizing the pre-election promises of Srđan Mandić and the slogan "Let's move on."
