SS BiH on May 1st: Workers in BiH are not an expense, but people with dignity, families, and rights

(Patria) - The Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on International Workers' Day, emphasizes that May 1st reminds us that workers' rights were won through solidarity and common struggle. As they state, generations before us won basic workers' rights, including dignified working conditions and a balance between work and rest.

They remind that this holiday is celebrated in more than 150 countries worldwide, in commemoration of the workers' protests in Chicago in 1886, when workers began the fight for an eight-hour workday - a principle that remains a symbol of workers' rights to this day.

- A worker in Bosnia and Herzegovina is not a number or an expense. A worker is a person with dignity, a family, and rights. If we want a stable and just society, we must invest in workers and improve their position. Therefore, we call on the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Employers' Association of FBiH, and all relevant actors to work together on strengthening a safe and just working environment. This is not a privilege, it is the minimum civilizational standard. On behalf of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of BiH, congratulations to all members on May 1st, International Workers' Day - stated the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of BiH.
