Although it was a friendly match, a fight almost broke out on the field during the match between Austria and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The main actors were Edin Džeko and Muhamed Bešić on one side and Aleksandar Dragović on the other, writes Serbian Telegraf, reports the Patria News Agency.
Telegraf is just one of many media outlets worldwide covering the incident that occurred during last night's match.
Unlike others, who mostly write about the explosive Džeko, they have shifted the narrative to a national level, following a familiar pattern. For them, it was "Džeko attacked a Serb," not an Austrian, or an opposing player already known for provocations.
- Revolted by the harsh foul by the Everton midfielder on his national teammate and the fact that he didn't even want to apologize, Dragović got into a verbal altercation with Bešić, whom Džeko came to assist. Džeko first verbally, and then physically, lunged at the defender of Serbian descent, all the while telling him to take the argument off the field. Like Džeko, Bešić also directed a number of curses at the defender whose parents are from Grocka, writes Telegraf.
It is also worth mentioning, writes Telegraf, that BIH had great support from fans who, shortly before the match, practically set Vienna ablaze.
