(Patria) - The sixth-round match of the WWin League of BiH between Sloga Meridian and Željezničar, which ended goalless, will be remembered not for football but for the disgraceful scenes at the end.
A group of hooligans from Doboj ran onto the pitch of the Luke stadium and physically attacked a photographer from Sarajevo who had come to do his job. Although outnumbered, the young man bravely resisted the attackers and at one point pushed them off the field himself.
The Doboj Police Administration announced that two individuals were sanctioned due to the incident. Both received – fines.
„Greater incidents were prevented by the quick reaction of police officers. One individual was sanctioned for indecent and offensive behavior, and the other for unauthorized entry onto the field“, stated the spokesperson of the Doboj Police Administration, Aleksandar Vuković.
However, such an epilogue raises the question – are fines a sufficient response to a physical attack and the disruption of the safety of sports workers and match participants?
