Smuggling prevented in the area of Velika Kladuša

(Patria) - Members of the Border Police Unit Velika Kladuša and the Border Police Unit for Support and Control Gradiška, on August 27, 2023, at the Crnaja site in the municipality of Velika Kladuša, prevented an attempt to smuggle 22 citizens of Afghanistan.

Namely, during the inspection of four passenger vehicles on the regional road Bihać – Velika Kladuša, security sector A2, several migrants were observed. The first passenger car, a SEAT, was driven by a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, M. I., who was transporting 6 citizens of Afghanistan in the vehicle. In the second car, a SEAT, driven by a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, K. E., five migrants were discovered.

The third vehicle, a VW Golf, was driven by M. K., who was transporting five migrants, while in the fourth car, a Renault, driven by a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, I. A., 6 citizens of Afghanistan were discovered.

The duty prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the preliminary proceedings judge of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina were informed about the event. By their order, the suspects were deprived of their liberty and examined as suspects, due to the existence of grounds for suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of People Smuggling under Article 189, Paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

By order of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, items that will serve as evidence in proving the criminal offense were temporarily seized (passenger vehicles, mobile phones, money, etc.). The smuggled foreign nationals were examined as witnesses and handed over to the Service for Foreigners' Affairs for further processing.
