Prepare for increased traffic at border crossings

(Patria) - There is increased vehicle traffic at the exit from Bosnia and Herzegovina at the border crossings: Orašje, Velika Kladuša and Izačić. At other border crossings, passenger vehicles, for now, are not waiting longer than 10 to 30 minutes.

On the main roads: Dobro Polje-Miljevina, Tuzla-Bijeljina and Jablanica-Blidinje, traffic is allowed for vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes, while for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, traffic remains suspended.

Due to road rehabilitation works, the A-1 motorway section Kakanj-Lašva (3 km long) is closed, and vehicles are being redirected to two-way traffic on the opposite side of the motorway.

On the A-1 motorway sections: Sarajevo north-Podlugovi, Sarajevo west-Lepenica and Bijača-Počitelj (Hercegovina bridge), due to ongoing works, traffic is redirected to the passing lane.

On the main road M-5, border crossing Izačić-Bihać, reconstruction works are being carried out on the bridge over the Mrižnica stream. Vehicles are being redirected to a temporary bypass in the immediate vicinity of the works, with alternating passage.

Works are underway to replace the expansion joint on the Ribićki bridge, on the main road Konjic-Jablanica. This is a short section (20m), and traffic is moving slowly, in one lane.

On the main road Srbac-Derventa, due to rehabilitation works, a traffic suspension is planned until the end of June. During the suspension, vehicles will be redirected to the alternative route Srbac-Prnjavor-Derventa.

Due to passenger registration under the new system for exiting and entering European Union countries (EES, Entry/Exit System), longer delays at border crossings are possible.

The Brčko border crossing is open for passenger vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes. As of December 2, 2025, the Karakaj border crossing is open for all categories of vehicles. At the Šepak border crossing, traffic is prohibited for all freight vehicles.
