Špirić: SNSD is in opposition at the state level, we wanted to facilitate the process of forming government

Nikola Špirić, SNSD MP in the new convocation of the BiH Parliament, said that countries where power changes democratically are fortunate. After today's session of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament, it is clear that SNSD is in opposition at the state level, reports a reporter of the Patria News Agency.

- I congratulate those elected, and SNSD will be in opposition and will work as it should. Some may not like it at times, but everything done in accordance with the Constitution and Dayton will have SNSD's support. Many were mistaken who expected obstruction from SNSD. I think the new government faces a serious job, and to the extent that the government respects the opposition, we will extend a hand to the government. We will be in opposition at the state level - said Špirić.

He clarified that the European path of BiH is not in question as an SNSD priority.

- The European path is an SNSD priority, and we were not a hindrance to it in the previous mandate either. People have signed a program and should implement it; whether there was sincerity only at the time of signing this agreement, we will see. There are no controversial issues for SNSD; we are in opposition and will congratulate everything done in accordance with the Constitution and Dayton; anything contrary will not have SNSD's support, nor should it have the support of the signatories (SDA, DF, HDZ BiH, Alliance for Progress, etc.) - says Špirić.

When asked if SNSD could have formed a majority at the state level, Špirić said:

- There is a mathematical majority; let's see what others can do. SNSD is not infatuated only with itself. There is nothing controversial about SNSD not being part of the majority. Our attempt to form majorities would be assessed as destructive, and we wanted to facilitate the process of forming government at the state level, which others should do at other levels - added Špirić.
