(Patria) - The Draft Report on Bosnia and Herzegovina's progress towards European Union membership was presented before the European Parliament.
The document states that urgent reforms are necessary, while progress so far has been assessed as little or none. It was also highlighted that the authorities fail to reach agreement even on simple issues.
- Instability is what best describes Bosnia and Herzegovina at the moment - said the EP Special Rapporteur for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ondřej Kolář.
He once again called on BiH authorities to act in the interest of the state and its European path.
- I think a reset of the way of thinking of many politicians in Bosnia and Herzegovina is very much needed. They must start thinking about the entire country, about the state as a whole, and not only through the prism of their ethnic affiliation, which, in my opinion, is something that greatly slows things down - says Kolář.
He also adds that the Western Balkan region should be part of the European Union.
- I think the Balkans should be united in the European Union. We cannot afford a kind of blank space on the map of Europe, and Bosnia and Herzegovina is, in fact, key to that, because it is located in the heart of the Western Balkans - stated Kolář.
He emphasizes that condemnation of nationalism is necessary.
- I think radical nationalism and ethnic divisions and separations have never brought anything good - concluded Kolář, as reported by Federalna.
