(Patria) - Senator Jeff Merkley tweeted a photo of ballots on the Senate floor. Merkley noted that Senate staff "saved" the ballots before the rioters entered the Senate.
He also assumed and stated, "if our capable floor staff hadn't grabbed them, the mob would have burned them."
Otherwise, hundreds of US President Donald Trump's supporters clashed with police on Wednesday around 3 PM US time during a raid on the Capitol building. Supporters entered the Capitol building and the Senate premises. President Trump encouraged them in this. Thousands of supporters are in front of and around the Capitol.
