Špago: Konaković shouldn't have been a minister in the first place, his removal would be supported due to his cartel connections and failures!

(Patria) - In the context of current events within the Council of Ministers and the parliamentary majority at the state level, and the submission of initiatives for the dismissal of ministers, it would be best for the citizens and the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina if this Council of Ministers resigned or were dismissed entirely, says Šerif Špago, Chairman of the SDA Caucus in the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.

Špago stated this after Sanja Vulić, head of the SNSD Caucus in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, announced that representatives from RS would launch an initiative to dismiss the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Council of Ministers, Elmedin Konaković.

The decision comes as a reaction to Konaković's initiative to declare January 9th a day of mourning throughout BiH, based on the initiative of the Association of Victims and Witnesses of Genocide and the movements "Mothers of the Srebrenica and Žepa Enclaves" and "Women of Podrinje".

Špago states that "most of the current ministers should never have even been considered as candidates for ministers, let alone elected to their current positions".

- Regarding the current Minister of Foreign Affairs, Konaković, he also should never have been a minister for many reasons. He was chosen precisely by SNSD, as the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, said, when he decided together with Dragan Čović, the President of HDZ, who from the "Muslim representation" would join them in power. We will also recall Konaković's statements at the time about "new negotiators", "the need for compromise", "historic sessions", "the need to swallow frogs" - Špago points out, adding "that we all remember the visits to Bakinci and the cordial meetings with Dodik".

- Back then, while "love was blooming" with Dodik, Konaković called the marking of the unconstitutional "Day of RS" a "trivial matter". After suffering damage in the patriotic part of the public due to such an attitude, Konaković went to the other extreme this year, asking the Council of Ministers of BiH to declare January 9th a day of mourning in the whole of BiH, fully aware that such a decision would never be made. His intention was clearly to improve his image in a part of the BiH public with this populist proposal. He is doing it disastrously, but that should not be a reason for dismissal - says Špago.

However, regarding Konaković's potential dismissal, according to Špago, discussions should be held in the context of information about cooperation with a drug cartel.

- The reason for supporting the dismissal initiative would also be the issue of his vote for the Decision on allocating 32 million KM for the purchase of a building from Dodik's godfather for the Indirect Taxation Authority, considering that his vote was decisive and he was the only Bosniak minister who voted for that Decision at the Council of Ministers session in November 2024. Then there is the issue of his responsibility for the cancellation of the Summit in Neum, which was supposed to be held last December, the cancellation of which is the biggest diplomatic scandal in the history of BiH, causing, among other things, damage to our country's European path. For these and some other reasons related to the results of his work, the SDA Caucus would support his dismissal - concluded Špago.
