Solak: From Monday, possibility for those over 65 to go out for pensions and shopping

SARAJEVO, (Patria) – Fahrudin Solak, head of the Federal Civil Protection Staff and director of the Federal Civil Protection Administration, said that members of the FUCZ today carried out the distribution of protective equipment to the most vulnerable and social institutions, disinfection in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, and tomorrow they begin activities in the West Herzegovina Canton.

Solak pointed out that the cantons have provided accommodation for those violating isolation measures. 

Regarding the change to the order banning movement for those over 65, Solak said that the order will be considered tomorrow, specifically how to adjust it so that those over 65 can go out to collect their pension or purchase supplies that could not be delivered to them. The implementation would be from Monday, but the method of making the change is still being considered. 

Solak added that this measure was effective and that they received numerous commendations.  

“This measure is very effective, the awareness of pensioners is high, and we have few cases of illness among pensioners. Implementation can be expected from Monday, if we allow it and within the time slots we allow, so that they maintain social distance and respect all other protective measures.

One of the proposals is also to relax the measure for rural areas where the population is engaged in agriculture,” said Solak.  

Salko Bukvarević, Minister of Veterans of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, said that payments of benefits for veteran categories will not be reduced as long as there is a possibility to make savings in other ways, and that funds are secured in the 2020 Budget.
 
“The calculation for all veteran benefits is completed, and payment is expected around April 10. Benefits will be paid to 102,507 veteran families, 83,859 personal disability benefits, 14,097 recipients of subsistence allowance, and more than 14,000 are recipients of awards. This is a category of our fellow citizens most deserving for the defense of our homeland,” said Bukvarević.
