Lower Pollen Concentrations in Sarajevo Canton, Ragweed Under Control

(Patria) - The Centre for Ecology and Natural Resources - Academician Sulejman Redžić submitted a pollen report to the Ministry of Communal Economy, Infrastructure, Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection of Sarajevo Canton with good news for allergic individuals.

Pollen concentrations in Sarajevo Canton are lower compared to the previous period.

Although the period from June to August is usually the peak for grass and weed pollen, concentrations of 498 pollen grains/m3 of air were recorded in Pofalići and 499 pollen grains/m3 of air in Stari Grad, which is less than before. Grass and weed pollen are dominant.

It is important to note that although ragweed has been observed in some locations in KS, its pollen has not yet been detected in the air, meaning there is currently no direct danger. We appeal to public utility companies to continue with the landscaping of unmaintained areas, and citizens are advised to avoid the mentioned locations.

Favorable weather forecasts for the upcoming period are expected to further reduce the pollination of allergenic plants and alleviate allergy symptoms in sensitive individuals.
All allergic individuals are recommended to follow the regular reports from the Centre and consult with a doctor in case of worsening symptoms.
