(Patria) - Delegate in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina Džemal Smajić said that today's session showed that the proposed Election Law by Marina Pendeš and the HDZ served the president of that party, Dragan Čović, as a narrative for his voters and that his sincere goal is not to resolve and consider the election law.
- All 15 delegates of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly unanimously adopted the urgent procedure for the election law. Here, we see that the HDZ, with Dragan Čović at the helm, is preventing a quorum in order to avoid discussing the Election Law - said Smajić.
He claims that Čović placed the Election Law on the agenda several months ago, "thinking that Bosniaks would leave and prevent a quorum in order to protect the SNSD's appointees from removal, primarily member of the House of Peoples' collegium Nikola Špirić and ministers coming from the SNSD, Srđan Amidžić and Staša Košarac."
He believes that the best solution would be to refer the Election Law to regular procedure, but they nevertheless voted for urgent procedure in order to be able to discuss the Election Law and offer suggestions on how to resolve this issue in the future.
Regarding the Election Law itself, he emphasized that the position of the Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina, from which he comes, is that adopting such a law is unacceptable and therefore he would vote against such an Election Law.
