Case 'Dženan Memić': Verdict for Zijad Mutap and Others on July 21

Before the Appellate Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the presentation of closing arguments in the case of Zijad Mutap and others concluded today, and the verdict will be delivered on July 21 at 11:00 AM. Besides Mutap, the accused are Alisa Ramić (formerly Mutap), Josip Barić, Hasan Dupovac, and Muamer Ožegović.

After the trial concluded, the father of the murdered young man Dženan Memić, Muriz Memić, addressed the media.

„I expect them to be convicted. They fabricated evidence. After the verdict of the Supreme Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, I believe this is an insult to both me and all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. They (the defense of the accused, ed.) deny the verdicts of the Supreme Court. I want to find out who killed my child, and they want to hide who killed my child," said Memić.

Today in the courtroom, the accused Alisa Mutap also spoke, stating that she was offered a change of identity and relocation to another country. Memić says that after 7.5 years, he saw emotion.

„She wants to walk free, while Dženan is under the black earth. I even saw a tear. I didn't see it when Dženan was killed or at his funeral, but I did when Hasan Dupovac began to speak," he said.

He believes that the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has proven what was done in this case.

"Hasan Dupovac presents it in a certain way. He was at the autopsy and knew it was a murder," he added.

He stated that an investigation into the murder is ongoing and that it should lead to a conclusion.

"I am not deceiving the citizens. We heard today about Doctor Čeljo. Doctor Čeljo said that 'the girl is lying and her mother is lying.' I know everything and speak with documents. We will win in the end. I am still stable both mentally and physically. We will see it through to the end, God willing," said Memić.

Lawyer Ifet Feraget stated that a conviction should be expected, considering the content of the evidence and everything presented by the prosecutors.

„I respect the presumption of innocence, but I expect a conviction. I believe the court will conclude that this was an organized group to cover up a murder."

Feraget said that the Cantonal Court rejected the findings of Ševal Kovačević as unprofessional, illogical, contradictory, and contrary to all material evidence and all witnesses heard, and condemned the outburst of lawyer Kadrija Kolić.

Regarding the murder investigation, Feraget said that the cantonal prosecutors, led by Dalida Burzić, must also be included in the investigation.

"I expect the investigation to be intensified. The event had its own dynamics and its participants," said Feraget.
