Famous Messi and his father receive suspended sentences for tax evasion

One of the world's best footballers, Lionel Messi, along with his father Jorge, has been sentenced to 21 months in prison for tax evasion.
Messi and his father are accused of evading the payment of taxes in the amount of 4.1 million euros in the period from 2007 to 2009, which they did through companies in Belize and Uruguay. This concerns money that the famous Messi earned based on image rights, but he did not pay tax on that money, although he should have done so.

The Argentine footballer previously stated in court in Barcelona that his father and lawyers take care of his finances, and that he only plays football.

BBC writes that Messi and Jorge will not serve prison sentences, but they will be suspended, Patria reports.
