Slaven Kovačević: Let Plenković take care of Croatia's Electoral Law instead of misleading the public about ours

(Patria) - Slaven Kovačević, candidate for member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, reacted to the statements made by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, Andrej Plenković, regarding the Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina, made during his official visit to Sarajevo and the press conference today.

"Andrej Plenković is misleading the general public with stories about the Dayton Peace Agreement, which he views incorrectly, in its entirety. In the Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina, since the signing of Dayton until now, nothing has been changed in relation to what was agreed and signed in Dayton (when it comes to the election of members of the Presidency) except that Christian Schmidt intervened at Plenković's wish, which Plenković himself boasted about. In other words, in the electoral system of Bosnia and Herzegovina, citizens still vote in elections, not peoples. That is how it was, and that is how it will remain," said Kovačević.

"Let Plenković take care of the electoral law in the Republic of Croatia, especially after the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Croatia established that there is inequality or a different value of votes coming from different electoral units in Croatia, instead of abusing an official visit to Sarajevo to mislead the public with his wishes for apartheid in the electoral system of Bosnia and Herzegovina," said Kovačević.

"Perhaps Mr. Plenković does not know what the legitimate goal of the Dayton Peace Agreement was, which refers to eliminating all consequences of aggression, ethnic cleansing, and other war crimes established in The Hague in the case 'Prlić et al.' as a joint criminal enterprise. The Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina is our affair and as such, it will be harmonized with European standards and in no other way," concluded Kovačević.
