Assembly adopts initiative for Palestinian children to be treated in healthcare facilities of Sarajevo Canton

(Patria) - The Assembly of Sarajevo Canton accepted the initiative of representative Haris Zahiragić (SDA) for the Government and the Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton to secure funds and create a treatment program for wounded and sick Palestinian children in healthcare facilities of Sarajevo Canton.

As Zahiragić explained, the Government of Sarajevo Canton would, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Bosnia and Herzegovina, offer to organize the evacuation, transport, treatment and accommodation of a certain number of wounded and sick Palestinian children in Sarajevo Canton.

- These children are bleeding. As a small country like Bosnia and Herzegovina, as a small canton like Sarajevo Canton, we cannot prevent the genocide and crime in Palestine, but we can show whose side we are on.

If at least 50 or 100 children, and why not also older individuals, are evacuated, that we host them, be their hosts and help them with treatment at our expense - said this representative.

Minister of Health of Sarajevo Canton Enis Hasanović expressed support for the initiative.

He recalled that during a meeting with representatives of the Turkish military mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, they discussed sending a team of doctors to Gaza when security conditions allow.
