SARAJEVO, (Patria) - United States Ambassador Kyle Scott assessed that it is a disgrace that a convicted war criminal walks in front of those who want to pay tribute to allies who gave their lives for justice and peace in Europe.
Scott commented on Twitter, and the rest of the message reads "Europe Day - European values".
The reaction of the US ambassador came after the participation of retired Serbian general Vladimir Lazarević in the commemoration of Victory over Fascism Day in Niš.
Niš yesterday marked Victory over Fascism Day with the Immortal Regiment march, led by retired general Vladimir Lazarević, former commander of the Priština Corps and the Third Army, who was sentenced by the Hague Tribunal to 14 years in prison for crimes against humanity, violations of the laws and customs of war, and other inhumane acts.
Lazarević was released in September 2015 after serving two-thirds of his sentence.
