Almost half of employees in FBiH receive a salary between 1,000 and 1,500 KM, further reduction of contributions expected

(Patria) - At the end of December 2025, 5,913 people in FBiH received salaries higher than 5,000 KM, according to data from the Tax Administration of FBiH, and the entire table of salary ranges was provided to federal representative Admir Čavalić. The December data refers to 407,000 employees.

The provided data covers approximately 400,000 recorded salaries, divided into eleven salary ranges.

The lowest salary, up to 1,000 KM, was received by 19,477 people in December. A salary of 1,000 KM was received by 49,802 people. In the salary range of 1,000 to 1,500 KM, there are 190,667 people, meaning 240,469 people, which is almost half of the employees in that salary bracket.

From 1,500 to 2,000 KM, 68,537 workers received salaries. From 2,000 to 2,500 KM, there are 34,117 employees, from 2,500 to 3,000 KM, 17,373 received salaries. From 3,000 to 3,500 KM, 9,678 people received salaries. In the salary range of 3,500 to 4,000 KM, there were 5,683 people. From 4,000 to 4,500 KM, there are 3,794 people, while from 4,500 to 5,000, there are 2,307 people.

Čavalić explained that based on this data, the estimate is that the median net salary at the end of 2025 was around 1,350 KM, or that it was in the interval of 1,000 to 1,500 KM.

“This is an estimate based on available salary ranges and does not apply to the total number of employees in FBiH. The largest number of workers in FBiH, almost 200,000 of them, receive a net salary in the range of 1,000 to 1,500 KM. This is precisely why we need fiscal reforms and why I insist on further reducing the aggregate contribution rate by another 5% by the end of the year. Otherwise, the median salary is the amount that divides employees into two equal halves - half of the workers earn less, and half earn more than that amount. This is a significantly more accurate indicator than the average net salary, which in FBiH currently stands at around 1,650 KM,” stated Čavalić.

According to official data from the Tax Administration of the Federation of BiH, the number of employees by place of residence of the employee on December 31, 2025, was 545,409.

The minimum wage for 2026, by decision of the Government of FBiH, is 1,027 KM.
