Nearly a Year After Floods: Dusina Awaits Road Reconstruction and School Transport Solution

(Patria) - Residents of the village of Dusina near Fojnica are increasingly dissatisfied because, nearly a year after the floods in October last year, the regional road from Fojnica towards Ostrožac has still not been repaired. Cracked asphalt, huge potholes and dust are making everyday life difficult, and the fact that student transport has been called into question is particularly concerning.

“The situation is very difficult, especially when it rains. Huge potholes form on the road, cars break down, and even private carriers do not want to transport students on this road,” says Fuad Fejzić, a resident of Dusina.

His neighbour Enes Salčinović confirms that the situation is alarming: “What can I say, in a month it will be a year since the floods, and nothing is being done. They just patch it up so we can somehow get through.”

The municipality of Fojnica, according to Mayor Sabahudin Klisura, has repaired local roads, but there are no funds for the regional road. “We appeal for higher levels of government to get involved, especially the Federation Government. We have submitted projects, but without support we cannot complete the rehabilitation,” Klisura states.

The president of the Dusina local community, Esma Salčinović, also emphasises that temporary solutions are not enough. “As soon as there is heavy rain, the road is damaged again. In summer, the dust is unbearable, and children, workers and pensioners suffer the most.”

The problem has also affected transport operators – due to the poor road, they do not want to risk bus breakdowns, so it remains uncertain whether students will have safe transport to school at the start of the school year.

Residents are losing patience, but still hope that a solution will be found – before they are completely cut off from the rest of the municipality, BHRT reports.
