Scandal in Srebrenica: Swedish Ambassador between the Memorial Center and the Mayor of Srebrenica, chose the genocide denier!

The newly appointed Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to BiH, Helena Lagerlof, was denied a welcome at the Srebrenica Memorial Center today, Istraga learns.

The Ambassador, as we learn, was denied a welcome due to the decision to meet with the Mayor of Srebrenica municipality, Mladen Grujičić, on the same day she was supposed to pay respects to the victims of genocide.

Grujičić is not only an extreme nationalist and an open denier of genocide, but a few weeks ago, accompanied by Srebrenica Orthodox priest Aleksandar Mlađenović and supporters, he organized a protest in front of the police station in Srebrenica, demanding the release of those arrested for the shooting incident in Potočari, a few hundred meters from the Srebrenica Memorial Center. Furthermore, Grujičić publicly accused the Director of the Memorial Center, Emir Suljagić, of their arrest.

Suljagić confirmed the reports of the meeting cancellation in a phone conversation.

“It is not possible to be at the Memorial Center and at a meeting with Grujičić on the same day: someone has to lie to us, and I don't want anyone to look me in the face and lie. Whoever wants to participate in the normalization of his politics and behavior is free to do so, but I will not participate in it. And if they think they can blackmail us with money or donations, let them forget that too. We have received exactly zero marks from Sweden so far,” Suljagić told Istraga.ba.

Therefore, in a situation where she had to choose whether to visit the Srebrenica Memorial Center or meet with Mayor Grujičić, Ambassador Lagerlof met with Grujičić.

In July last year, Grujičić stated in an interview with Belgrade media that “The Mothers of Srebrenica are the engine of hatred among people.” In every public appearance, Grujičić denies the genocide.

According to Istraga’s information, the leadership of the Srebrenica Memorial Center informed officials of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Sweden on Monday that they did not wish to meet with Ambassador Lagerlof if she visited the Municipality, i.e., Mayor Mladen Grujičić. After internal consultations, the Ambassador prioritized Grujičić.
