(Patria) - The premiere of the documentary film "Ramiz Salčin - Seed of Resistance", by journalist Eldina Zolj-Balenović, produced by FIVA Production Company, was held this evening in the Multimedia Hall of the Municipality of Novi Grad Sarajevo.
The documentary "Seed of Resistance" is dedicated to the hero of the liberation war, Ramiz Salčin - a man who left an indelible mark on the history of resistance against aggression on Bosnia and Herzegovina with his life, courage, and deeds.
The film tells the story of the struggle, courage, and strength of a people who did not surrender. About a man who knew that on his land, under his sky, among his people - resistance is not planned on time, but ahead of time.
"Golden Lily" Ramiz Salčin, a true patriot and hero of the defense of our homeland, was killed on this day 33 years ago in the defense of the city and the state of BiH against the Serb-Montenegrin aggressor. Ramiz is one of the true examples of how one loves and defends their homeland.
Numerous delegations, family members, comrades-in-arms, and friends gathered today at the site of his death in Saraj-Polje to pay tribute to him and show that the name of our brave knight will never be forgotten.
The late Ramiz Salčin was the commander of the Territorial Defense of Novi Grad Sarajevo, and he was awarded the highest wartime recognition "Golden Lily" and the Order of the Liberation War "Golden Coat of Arms with Swords".
He was killed by a sniper bullet fired from Chetnik positions from the direction of Nedžarići at the age of 38.
Tahir Mašić, Assistant Head of the Department for Veterans' Affairs, Labor, Social Affairs, and Health, welcomed those present on behalf of the Municipality of Novi Grad today.
Mašić emphasized that Ramiz Salčin was among the first patriots to actively participate in the preparation and organization of the defense of the Municipality of Novi Grad, the city of Sarajevo, and the state of BiH against the Serb-Montenegrin aggressor.
- Ramiz made a huge contribution to the creation of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, actively participated in the procurement of weapons, the defense of the city, and formed defensive lines on Mojmilo Hill.
He participated day and night in the encirclement of the "Viktor Bubanj" barracks, which was later named after him, the hero Ramiz Salčin, and the "Jusuf Džonlagić" barracks, where he participated in the acquisition of large quantities of material-technical resources and weapons.
Due to his displayed courage and ability in leading the defense of Sarajevo from the aggressor, especially the territory of the Municipality of Novi Grad Sarajevo, Ramiz was appointed and assigned as the commander of the TO Headquarters of Novi Grad Sarajevo in 1992.
He held this position until August 22, 1992, when he was killed at this location by a sniper bullet fired from the direction of Nedžarići.
Although he was the commander of the Territorial Defense, Ramiz was constantly present on the defense lines. He participated in battles from Milinkladska, Hrasno Brdo, Turkušići, the battle for the Mojmilo water supply, Nedžarići, Stup, Azići, and Žuč Hill - said Mašić.
He reminded that Salčin is the recipient of the wartime recognition "Golden Lily", the Order of the Liberation War "Golden Coat of Arms with Swords", and holds the rank of Brigadier of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
- Today, with sadness, but also with pride, we remember a sincere patriot, a sincere fighter for the defense of his people, for the defense of democracy, we remember Ramiz Salčin as a fighter for the defense of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Today, we remember, and it is our obligation, all the daughters, sons, husbands and fathers, mothers and sisters who gave their lives in defense of our only homeland, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Let us never forget them, because they gave the most for this country, they gave their lives for the freedom we live in today - Mašić concluded.
The attendees were also addressed by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, Kemal Ademović, and the recipient of the wartime recognition "Golden Lily", retired Brigadier and comrade-in-arms of the late Ramiz Salčin - Velid Bajramović.
