The Moneyval session will be held from April 12 to 16, and will be attended by Samir Omerhodžić, a member of the BiH team at Moneyval, writes the Patria news agency.
Some media have reported that BiH could again end up on the blacklist, even though the article of the Criminal Code related to the financing of terrorism has been adopted. Omerhodžić says that we should wait for the session and not rush into possible scenarios.
- We cannot make any scenario before the session that will be held. By adopting this article of the Criminal Code, we have fulfilled the obligation that was required of us. Whether countries will demand greater obligations from us, we do not know. But the December session resulted in BiH having to adopt this article related to the financing of terrorism – says Omerhodžić.
He added that it could very easily happen that some countries simply raise the question of whether BiH has done enough or not.
- I assume that this black scenario will not happen, but we will see. There is a possibility that some countries will raise the question of whether BiH meets the conditions, but we do not know if they will do so – added Omerhodžić.
Incidentally, for almost all of last year there was a fear that BiH would end up on the blacklist, due to the failure to adopt the Law on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorist Activities and amendments to the Criminal Code of BiH. We recall, the Parliament of BiH first adopted the Law on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorist Activities, and recently the Criminal Code was amended, so it is believed that BiH will not be sanctioned after all.
