Mostar City Council session not held, agenda falls through

(Patria) - The session of the Mostar City Council, for which only one item was proposed on the agenda - a decision on granting preliminary consent for the concession of Mostar Airport, was not held because the proposed agenda was not adopted.

The Bosniak club has been boycotting the work of the City Council for the past month, but the Chairman of the City Council, Đani Rahimić, decided to convene a session with only one agenda item concerning the status of Mostar Airport, after American investors expressed interest in taking it over.

At the beginning of the session, councilors from Croatian political parties pointed out that the session was convened contrary to the Statute and Rules of Procedure of the Mostar City Council.

Rahimić said he had not received any request for new items on time and that he saw nothing controversial in convening this session.

The Mayor of Mostar, Mario Kordić, stated that the session was "illegal and contrary to the rules of procedure." He emphasized that no one is against granting the airport as a concession, but adopting that decision in this manner, in his opinion, would be legally questionable.

Councilor of the HRS, Slaven Bevanda, said that Rahimić violated the Statute and Rules of Procedure of the Mostar City Council, stating that no one from his party "wants to participate in this farce." After that, the HRS councilors left the session.

After a two-hour discussion, the agenda was put to a vote, but since it did not receive the required majority, the session was concluded.
