United States Celebrated Independence Day

(Patria) – The United States celebrated Independence Day on Thursday, July 4.

During the ceremony in front of the Abraham Lincoln Memorial in Washington, complemented by combat aircraft in a parade flight, President Donald Trump said that the American nation is 'stronger than ever before'.

In his lengthy address, Trump did not touch upon politics – his political rivals or elections – but rather emphasized the importance of national unity.

Trump praised the American military, telling a story about each branch as a prelude to their separate ceremonial flight.

'We celebrate our history, our people, and the heroes who proudly defend our flag: the brave men and women of the American military,' Trump said during his address at the ceremony marking American Independence Day.

His speech concluded with a low and spectacular flight of six F-18 aircraft, also known as the 'Blue Angels'. From the enthusiastic crowd, shouts of 'four more years' were heard in support of the American president, who is preparing for the 2020 presidential elections.

History of Independence Day

In July 1776, during the second year of the American Revolutionary War (1775–1783), representatives of the 13 North American colonies of the Kingdom of Great Britain voted for independence from the crown, thus forming the United States of America.

Two days after the historic vote, on July 4, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was signed, and since then, America has celebrated Independence Day every year.
