(Patria) - The first victims of the aggression in Sarajevo were Ramo Biber and Kenan Demirović. They were killed on March 2, 1992, at two different locations.
Although we all remember April 5 and the murder of Olga Sučić and Suada Dliberović, it is important to also remember March 2, 1992. Today, the 5th memorial tournament "Ramo Biber" began in Sarajevo in memory of all the fallen soldiers of Grasa, where Biber was employed.
The tournament was opened by the Minister for Veterans' Affairs of KS, Omer Osmanović.
"Today we gathered to pay tribute to Ramo Biber, who was brutally murdered at his workplace while guarding the Trebević cable car, as the first victim of the beginning of the aggression against our homeland. Just one day after he signed the referendum for the independence of BiH, the enemy took his life," Osmanović stated on X.

Ramo Biber was born in the village of Grivip, municipality of Rudo. He lived in the settlement of Švrakino Selo. He was killed while performing his regular duties as a security guard for the Trebević cable car. On that fateful March 2, 24 years ago, Ramo was at the upper station of the Trebević cable car. He was accompanied by the cable car mechanic, Abdulah Rizvanović.
Around 2 PM, a large group of unknown armed men surrounded the station, and some tried to enter the building, demanding that Ramo and Abdulah leave the station and hand it over to them. They were in camouflage uniforms and white overalls.
Ramo and Abdulah then jumped from the station and ran through the bushes and forest along the cable car route towards the city. They were fired upon with automatic weapons. Ramo was found dead near the third pylon of the Trebević cable car. The next day, March 3, an investigation was conducted by CSB Sarajevo employees, in cooperation with CSB Stari Grad employees and a judge from the Basic Court in Sarajevo. To this day, no one has been held accountable for Ramo's death. He was only 42 years old.
As a permanent memorial to him, the arrival station of the Cable Car was named "Ramo Biber" by decision of the City Council, where a memorial plaque was also placed in 2018.

On March 2, 1992, eighteen-year-old Kenan Demirović was killed in the Kobilja Glava settlement in Vogošća. He was killed by neighbors of Serbian nationality not far from his house in Kobilja Glava, near the Orlić cemetery where his grandfather was buried. His cousin, Atif Demirović, was wounded during the incident.
More than ten thousand people attended Kenan's funeral on March 4, led by the then-Reis Jakub ef. Selimoski. His death has also not been clarified to this day.
