Sivro: I pointed out real problems in education, children cannot be a tool for sensationalism

(Patria) - The president of the Independent Union of Primary Education and Upbringing of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina - Cantonal Board of the Independent Union of Primary Education and Upbringing of Canton Sarajevo, Saudin Sivro, reacted to the accusations made against him by the association Colibri.

"Regarding the statements made by the president of the Association in the media, which refer to my alleged stigmatization of children with developmental disabilities, I want to state clearly and unequivocally that such claims are completely untrue, malicious, and offensive.

Throughout my many years of work in education and union activities, and as a parent, I have always emphasized the importance of inclusion, support for students with difficulties, and the fight for a system in which no child should be neglected or discriminated against.

Precisely thanks to the Union's efforts, we have repeatedly initiated measures to improve the status of teaching assistants, provide greater support to teachers, and foster better cooperation with parents of children who need additional help. These are verifiable facts.

The statement that I have 'stigmatized children' is not only a personal attack on me but also the spread of falsehoods that insult parents themselves. I consider using a sensitive topic, such as the position of children with developmental disabilities, for personal or political settling of scores to be an irresponsible and dangerous act.

I emphasize that my only goal was to point out the real problems in the education system, not to question the value and rights of children with difficulties in any way. Children are our shared responsibility and deserve the support of the entire society, not to be a tool for sensationalism or personal promotion.

I call on the Association that made the aforementioned statements to stop spreading falsehoods that confuse parents and the public, and to present their arguments, if they have any, through institutional dialogue, not through media spins," Sivro stated in his reaction.
