(Patria) - Basketball players of Široki Brijeg are the new champions of Bosnia and Herzegovina! In the fifth, decisive game, they defeated Spars with a score of 82:69.

The Sarajevo team had a 2:1 lead in the series and needed only one more win for their premiere championship title in Bosnia and Herzegovina. However, they were first defeated in their home arena at Grbavica, after which Široki achieved a great victory for the title today in the popular deciding game.

The match was met with a fiery atmosphere in Pecara, where the hosts started better. However, at a score of 15:8, Spars made a ten-point run without a response and took the lead. The Sarajevo team held the lead until the end of the first half, going into halftime with a minimal one-point lead.

However, the third quarter was crucial. The hosts made a run right after the start of the third period, taking a more significant lead. With three-pointers from Drežnjak, the Hercegovinians went up by a maximum of 16 points at the start of the fourth quarter, and there was no coming back for Spars after that.

Until the end, the hosts easily maintained their lead and defended it, winning their new BiH championship title.

The most effective player for the winning team was Mateo Drežnjak with 17 points, Derrick Steven Fenner added 18, and Dario Drežnjak had 17. For the guests, Ibrahim Durmo and Slobodan Jovanović scored 13 points each, and Kenan Bajramović was also in double digits with 11 points.
