(Patria) - The Union of Police Organs in Bosnia and Herzegovina today addressed the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Council of Ministers of BiH, the Ministry of Security of BiH, the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Ombudsman Institution.
"From the aforementioned letter, it is evident that police officers are discriminated against in pension calculations compared to their colleagues from the Federal Police Administration and cantonal Ministries of Internal Affairs, and are placed in a situation where they are contemplating their existence, which calls into question the integrity of police officers and exposes police organs to danger. Due to the negligence of authorities towards police officers working in BiH police organs, an increasing number of police officers, as stated by the Director of the BiH Border Police, are leaving police organs and seeking better jobs and a more secure existence," the Union announced.
They noted that at the beginning of the year, they were informed that the Federal Pension and Disability Insurance Institute had created prerequisites for applying pension calculations for police officers based on a five-year average salary.
"However, according to our findings, the aforementioned method of pension calculation does not apply to police officers working in police organs at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina (SIPA, GP BiH, DKPT BiH), after which we contacted you on 02/14/2019 with an inquiry to which we never received an answer," it was stated.
