(Patria) - The Sarajevo Cantonal Board of the Independent Union of Primary Education and Upbringing of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has sent a request to the Sarajevo Canton Government and the Minister of Primary Education and Upbringing Naida Hota Muminović to initiate negotiations on salary increases for workers in preschool and primary education in the Sarajevo Canton.
Below we convey the Request:
"An increase in the consumer price index measured by the Federal Bureau of Statistics of more than 5% automatically implies the obligation of social partners, in accordance with Article 56 of the Collective Agreement, to mutually agree on an increase in workers' salaries. According to official data from the Federal Bureau of Statistics, consumer prices (annual inflation) in 2026 are in constant increase, which directly and daily affects the living costs of workers and their families, as follows:
- in January, prices increased by 3.5% (annual inflation);
- in February, prices increased by 3.1% (annual inflation);
- in March, prices increased by 5.2% (annual inflation);
- in April, prices increased by a high 6.6% (annual inflation).
In this regard, we request the initiation of the negotiation process for increasing the salaries of workers in the fields of preschool education and primary education and upbringing in the Sarajevo Canton," states the Request signed by the President of the Cantonal Board Sarajevo, Saudin Sivro.
