Union wrote to Uk: Start with indefinite term competitions in kindergartens and schools

(Patria) - The Independent Union of Primary Education and Upbringing of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina - Cantonal Board of the Independent Union of Primary Education and Upbringing of Sarajevo Canton sent a letter to the Prime Minister of CS Nihad Uk, regarding the approval of indefinite term public competitions.

The Union believes that one of the biggest problems in education is the shortage and constant turnover of employees in kindergartens and primary schools, especially those employees whose main job is direct educational work with children and students, including employees in extended stays where working conditions are inhumane.

"Unlike the hiring of employees in other sectors, and especially in the bodies and institutions of the Canton where employees are permanently hired indefinitely, in education, indefinite term public competitions are unfortunately approved only in years when political campaigns are conducted.

The long-standing poor attitude towards employees in kindergartens and primary schools results in constant turnover of employees in vacant positions, which directly negatively affects children and students, but also employees because they cannot solve their second most important existential issue in life - the issue of employment.

One of the main reasons, besides low wages and poor working conditions, why young people do not want to be educators, is the issue of indefinite term employment.

We demand that the Government of Sarajevo Canton stop the bad practice and immediately start permanently approving the announcement of indefinite term public competitions in primary schools as public institutions and in JU "Djeca Sarajeva" Sarajevo", the Union states.
