SARAJEVO, (Patria) – The Union of Doctors of Medicine and Dentistry of the Sarajevo Canton today distributed protective equipment (suits, masks, gloves, visors, disinfectants) to all healthcare facilities in the Sarajevo Canton except the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo, which refused the donation, confirmed for Patria by Izet Hočko, president of the Union.
He said that they sent a letter to KCUS twice informing them about today's distribution of materials.
„Today we received information that the director refused the donation because they supposedly have everything,“ Hočko said.
When asked if he is aware that doctors at KCUS do not have enough protective equipment, and some have none at all, and are improvising with visors, gloves and masks, Hočko says that this morning's information supports that.
„The company that was supposed to deliver 2,000 masks to us today first delivered equipment to KCUS this morning, and then informed us that they cannot deliver the masks and that everything goes to civil protection,“ Hočko said, noting that it is interesting that protective equipment arrived at KCUS today.
He also said that they delivered the prepared donation to their colleagues working at KCUS regardless of the impolite reaction of director Sebija Izetbegović.
Hočko said that the Union will continue with activities of donating protective equipment, and will also help healthcare facilities in other cantons wherever equipment is needed. The funds for the procurement of protective equipment were provided by the Union from membership fees.
