FBiH Metalworkers' Union: Car deliberately set on fire, we continue our work and will not be intimidated by anyone's threats

(Patria) - The FBiH Metalworkers' Union issued a statement today after the vehicle of the FBiH Metalworkers' Union - Sarajevo Canton Commission was set on fire on Friday evening. There were no injuries in the fire, while material damage was caused to the vehicle.

"It should be noted that the vehicle arson incident was recorded by a local camera placed near the scene. The footage clearly shows two individuals preparing and then setting the car on fire. Police officers arrived at the scene, and due to grounds for suspicion that the criminal offense of causing general danger had been committed, the duty prosecutor of the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office was notified. The circumstances under which this criminal offense was committed remain unclear," the Metalworkers' Union stated.

They expressed concern that this event could be linked to certain activities of the Federation of BiH Metalworkers' Union and the Sarajevo Canton Commission, thereby leading to a direct confrontation with union representatives and those leading union activities at all levels.

The Metalworkers' Union stated that they act in accordance with their commitment defined within legal frameworks, the Statute, and the rules of union organization, and that no threats will harm them on that path.

"Our mission and obligation is the fight to preserve and improve the working and living conditions of the workers we represent. We sincerely hope that the authorities will react quickly and efficiently to bring the perpetrators to justice and resolve doubts about the motives of this act of vandalism," the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Metalworkers' Union announced.
