(Patria) - On Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 12:00 PM, the Communal Economy Trade Union will hold a press conference at the BiH Trade Union Home in Skenderija.
The presidents of eight communal economy trade unions, led by the Cantonal Board of the Communal Economy Trade Union of Sarajevo, want to warn the public that workers are under pressure while citizens face the possibility of being left without services.
"The Cantonal Board of the Communal Economy Trade Union of Sarajevo warns the public about the alarming state of communal enterprises in the Sarajevo Canton, caused by irresponsible management and systemic violation of workers' rights. The trade union possesses information and evidence of criminal activities within certain enterprises, for which criminal charges have already been filed and inspection supervision initiated," the press release states.
It adds that "instead of development and strengthening of capacities, we are witnessing irresponsible management and hiring of unqualified and favored personnel, which has directly led to the collapse of the system".
"Communal enterprises are of vital importance for the functioning of the capital city, and today they face a shortage of machinery, workforce, and basic working conditions. The consequences of such management are already felt by citizens through increasingly poor service, which is regularly billed to them," it states, adding that "the situation is further aggravated by the illegal interference of management in the work of the trade union, intimidation of trade union activists, and mobbing of trade union representatives".
