Trade Union of Doctors of Medicine and Dentistry of Tuzla Canton Announces Protests, Demanding Higher Salaries

(Patria) - The Trade Union of Doctors of Medicine and Dentistry of Tuzla Canton announced protests by doctors in Tuzla for today, starting at 1 PM.

They want to highlight their discriminatory position compared to doctors from other cantons, in terms of salaries and staff shortages. They are demanding a 3 percent increase in salary coefficients.

The Trade Union points out that the coefficients for other medical staff have already been aligned with other cantons, such as Canton Sarajevo and Zenica-Doboj Canton, while specialists and subspecialists in Tuzla Canton, as they state, remain among the lowest paid in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, despite performing the most complex medical procedures, including cadaveric transplants.

Yesterday afternoon, the TK Ministry of Health sent a letter to all directors of healthcare institutions in TK stating that the protests must not, under any circumstances, jeopardize patient care, thereby exerting pressure on all doctors who participate in the protests. However, the Trade Union remains persistent in their fight and will protest today from 1 PM with a peaceful march, from the Bosnian Cultural Center to Freedom Square. They plan to briefly stop in front of the TK Government building.
