Sinanovići on Bjelašnica: Last mevlud of the year held in Tušila mosque

The traditional August mevlud was held today in the Tušila mosque in the village of Sinanovići on Bjelašnica, and it is the last one for this year, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

From early morning, congregation members, believers, and numerous tourists who do not have the opportunity to see this religious custom of Muslims in Bosnia and Herzegovina began arriving in the village.

The Tušila mosque was too small to accommodate all those who came today, given that this congregation also includes the villages of Pervizi, Ozimine, Žilići, and Bobovica.

This mosque is located 50 km south of Sarajevo. For example, in 1991 there were 65 households, while today there are about 20.

The mosque was burned down during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1993, but it was rebuilt in 1997 and a concrete minaret was constructed.
